Website Issues

DSC_0376You may have noticed that the posts that were supposed to go up as galleries (that were in fact, previously galleries) no longer appear as galleries on the new website layout.

We are currently working to fix that, and it should in fact be fixed soon.

Thank you for bearing with us. We’re about to introduce a few other website changes that should be pretty interesting as well. Keep your ears peeled.

Summer 2014

DSC_0511WE HAVE DATES!

Summer Kick-Off: June 14, 2014 at the Waterfront!

I, personally, am hoping that I can spend every Sunday that I’m available taking pictures – even if it’s just of me. I’m thinking I may set a weekly meet time where anyone who wants to can participate. I have a particular video project I would like to complete, so Sundays would be best for that to happen, but if there’s a particular day where attendance is low, we can go back to the usual.

Weekly Sundays will start June 22, also at the Waterfront. If location changes for a particular week, look for updates on our Facebook page!

The participation form will be updated and re-uploaded when I get my next opportunity.

If this summer goes well, I’m hoping that by next summer I can invest in a decent D-SLR camera, preferably with HD video. This summer will (in all likelihood) be a “summer of the camera phone” as far as this project’s concerned. Fortunately for us, camera phones are really good at taking pictures right now. Yay technology.

Again, Summer kick-off is JUNE 14th with the first weekly Sunday shoot being JUNE 22nd!

Hope to see you all there!

Fall Foliage Shoot

DSC_0367Our next photo shoot is:

12 October 2013
FALL FOLIAGE SHOOT
Meeting at Mills Riverside Park between Jericho & Underhill at 1 PM.
Dancing meets classic Vermont!

Raindate for this photo shoot is 26 October

As always, just because the shoot starts in a certain location doesn’t mean that the shoot will stay there.

If you have never attended a shoot before, you can download a copy of the release form from the link in the right sidebar. I will most likely bring extras with me, but we can save time by having them filled out in advance.

New Users: How to Upload

You can upload your pictures by clicking on “Media” in the left hand side bar of your Dashboard, and then “Add New”. This way you can upload all of your photos at once.

Once you have uploaded your images, you’re going to create a post.

Click on “Posts” and then “Add New”.

Write the title of the post as “Day Month Year – Part ??”. If you are unsure what part we are up to, just leave it as question marks and I will get back to it and change it accordingly.

On the right hand side of the Edit Post window there is a box labeled “Format”. Select “Gallery”. Once you’ve done that, go up to the button right above the edit bar where it says “Add Media”. Select as many pictures as you think the Gallery will be able to handle. (Thus far I’ve discovered that it prefers landscape pictures over portrait, I would see how many it can handle of just the landscape ones.) Once you’ve added all the pictures and clicked publish, go back to the post and delete all of those pictures. This seems like an odd step, but it will keep the images linked with the post but not display them in the body of the post. (If you decide to view the post before deleting the images from the body of the post, you’ll see what I mean.)

If you have any pictures you would like to display by themselves, select “Image” for the format and then click on “Set Featured Image”. (That is at the bottom of the right hand sidebar.) When you set a featured image, you can side step the whole insert/delete process that you have to go through for a gallery.

Even if you do a gallery post, SET A FEATURED IMAGE. The Featured Image is what displays on the home page of the website! We can tell the difference between updates and new galleries quickly because updates don’t have an image. They show up on a black background.

Have any questions after this? Just shoot me an email: robin@foxtrotfirefly.com

Photoshoot is ON!

100_8895Hey all! Today’s photo shoot (the rain date for May 25th) is still on! It’s beautiful out!

Hope to see you outside ECHO Lake Aquarium and Research Center at noon!

~Robin

(Edit Post-Shoot: We had a wonderful shoot. Now it’s just a matter of uploading pictures as we have time available. My few black and white photos have gone up – including the one that is now with this post. I will be adding a dancer/photographer profile page as soon as I get the profile shots in.)
