Happy 2022! Or at least… Well, lets hope for turning over a new leaf.

I can’t say that 2021 didn’t bring about some interesting changes to my life, or that those weren’t amazing changes. But change is a double-sided coin. My child was born at the beginning of the year, and as prepared for that as I felt, there were definitely moments. Childcare being too expensive and (as I continue to feel) dangerous for the unvaccinated, I found myself trying to pull off the Herculean task of working from home with a baby on my lap for 2 months. The fact that it was only 2 months still amazes me. The relief of living with my parents for three weeks right after leaving my job was incredible.

We moved soon after that, and I now find myself living the life of a stay-at-home mom. You would think that would be easy after working from home with the baby. And on a number of levels, it is easier. But it is also dreadfully monotonous. And so, here I am, hoping for just a little more time to spend with my blog in the new year.

My goal, at first, will be to return to the book reviews. I can get some reading done during nap times. If my new plan for writing time works, then maybe I will get a bit more ambitious than that.

In the meantime, I now have a StoryGraph account that I have done an okay job of keeping up with. (The reading progress tracker feels easier to use than GoodReads.) The username on StoryGraph is (as ever) FoxtrotFirefly.

See you on the next page!
