When I started this year, I had a goal of finally writing more for this blog. I was hoping that most of the new posts would be the book reviews that I have been putting off. Sadly, that has not been the case. The few blog posts I have done have been about motherhood, the general lack of support systems in place for both working and stay-at-home parents (particularly moms), the daily grind of being a “SAHM”, and while these topics are important, they are not what I set out to do with this blog. But clearly, that’s what is at the top of my mind lately and it’s what the whole TWO(!) posts from 2022 have been about.

I also have a draft of a blog post that I started at one point in which I detailed being stuck on the floor with my baby staring at the ceiling while they breastfed. Because of course, I had my phone, but had forgotten my book. But that didn’t get far because it is very difficult to type one-handed with your non-dominant hand for any length of time and the WordPress app hates my phone.

All this to say that I’d like to do better at NOT mom blogging. You’d think I could get something out that was book review related, or tea related, or history related. I just need time to do so. But the instant my computer comes out, it’s like I stuck a toddler magnet on it, and said toddler will scream until they can play with it.

I am TWO BOOKS AWAY from completing my 2022 reading goal of 50 books. TWO! And I haven’t written a single review! I’ve managed to do a couple of Instagram posts. But that is it.

I have been dusting off my Mercy Otis Warren research as well. I had thoughts of doing a subsection of this website on Revolutionary Women – something to keep the research fresh and on top. We shall have to see. I was sad to see that my writing for the blog On King Street (now renamed On Washington Street) have all been taken down. I don’t think I was able to save my own copy of these blog posts, but I haven’t had a chance to really look.

I also had plans to do a tea tour of my new city, along with a review of my favorite tea shop near my last home. But those plans were scuppered.

If I can get a weekly set time to myself, I’m going to try to get more regular research and postings up to this website. If I can do that, we’ll see what next steps are a-foot.
